A swimmer is born

Since we are leaving for Hawaii this Friday, Andrew and I thought it would be a good idea to see if Henry liked swimming.  He enjoys bath time, so we assumed it would be fine, but wanted to know for sure.  He did great!  The swimsuit he has on is a diaper and swimsuit all in one, part of our cloth diaper collection (iPlay for those of you who care, I also have Imse Vimse, but he has to grow into those).

He loved chewing on his duck!  We barely got it away from him to take some pictures with the duck not in his mouth.

Henry was very content sitting at the end of this long slide at the Cessna Activity Club.  Andrew wanted to pretend that he was up there all by himself, but as soon as Andrew took his hand away Henry wanted to dive in.  He didn't go under, but it gave me a small heart attack.

I think we have ourselves a swimmer!  The water was colder than he was used to, but he was a trooper and all smiles afterward.

7 months old

This post is a little late, but I have been trying, like crazy, to upload videos so that I can show you what Henry is doing at 7 months.  I'm not sure it is going to work, but I will try.

I can't believe he is already 7 months old.  He is so expressive and the amount he continues to learn is overwhelming for me, I can't imagine what it is like for him.  He continues to be a very happy little boy.  Don't get me wrong, if he is hungry, watch out! he wants food now (I have to blame myself for passing on that trait though).

He is rolling all over the place, but hasn't really shown signs of crawling, or at least I don't think he has.  Although, I was surprised how well he can get around by just rolling.  I turned my back for a minute the other day and he had rolled over and started chewing on the computer cable.  Yes, I'm up for Mother of the Year :-)

My favorite recent story is recently Henry was sucking on his pacifier and playing in his room with his toys one afternoon and our dog, Charlie was running around with his tiger toy.  Well, I left to wash dishes and came back and Henry had the tiger toy and Charlie had the pacifier.  Usually I get really upset with Charlie when he gets the pacifier, but this was just too cute.

He is drooling like crazy, gnawing on everything and no, he doesn't have any teeth.  I promise, when his first tooth starts to peek out I will let everyone know.  Why is that the first question everyone asks if he is chewing on stuff and cranky, "is he teething?"

Actually, I have found it humorous that the first question almost everyone asks is,"how is he sleeping?" It is literally the first thing out of anyone's mouth that hasn't seen us for a while or people we are meeting for the first time.  The funny thing is, I try to explain it.  "Well, he did really well for the first 4 months and then he stopped sleeping through the night and we haven't figured out why, but we took him out of his swaddle and now we are blah blah blah."   Here is my new answer, "he is a great sleeper, thank you for asking."  Sometimes that is even true.

Well, enough of my jabber.  I want Henry to show you what he has been doing so cross your fingers, let's see if this is going to work...

He is learning how to talk with his mouth full.

He loves books!

He is a great sleeper, thank you for asking. :-)

He loves to play with his toys!

I could not be any more in love with this child.  Thank you for stopping by so that I can show off my beautiful little boy.

A Lovely Evening

I had my 31st birthday last week and my little sisters were nice enough to fix me dinner.  Okay, really, I picked them up on Friday and basically told them they were going to fix me dinner.  Maddie and Annie were good sports and they did a fabulous job.  We had a yummy dinner of enchiladas, beans, rice and queso.  They even cleaned up the dishes.  Thanks girls!

As luck would have it the OU/Texas A&M game was on the same night.  So, Boompa (my dad) brought Henry his first Sooner t-shirt so they could cheer on their OU boys together.  The shirt says "My First OU Sooner Tee."  Henry looked adorable and although it didn't help them win, it was still a great gift!

Henry has been gnawing on EVERYTHING and he is completely fearless.  He just throws himself around and luckily we have caught him so far.  I'm sure it has something to do with him teething, but they still haven't pushed through yet.

Boompa and Nana enjoying their time with Henry.
Cheering on the Sooners.
 Happy Birthday to me!

A New Year

Andrew and I try to do something to ring in the New Year with the ones we love around us, but this year was different.  We just wanted to be at home with each other and our baby boy.  We rented movies, popped popcorn and cuddled up underneath a big blanket.  We had a wonderful spaghetti dinner and tried to put Henry down at his normal time.  However, Henry decided he wanted to be with us too.  We decided on New Year's Eve he could stay up as late as he wanted (ha ha like we really had a choice).  He watched "The Amazing Spiderman" movie cuddled up with his daddy and even jumped at a couple of the scary scenes.  I was sure we had damaged him for good and he would have nightmares for the rest of his life. Turns out, I was worried for nothing.  He went to bed around 11:30, I managed to stay up until midnight, but was asleep shortly after and Andrew finished another movie.  A perfect New Year's Eve.

We slept in on New Year's Day and then got up and watched football, not even bothering to get out of our pajamas at all that day.  At one point, in the afternoon, Henry fell asleep on me and I was about to get up and put him in his crib, but Charlie came over and snuggled up next to me.  It was just too perfect, everything I wanted to start a New Year.

Anyway, I hope everyone had a wonderful New Year, celebrating exactly how they wanted to and enjoyed the first day of the new year with the ones they love.  Many blessings in 2013!!
