Okay, I know it has been a while since I have written, but this one will be worth the wait. We had an amazing weekend celebrating Henry's first birthday. June 5th is his actual birthday, but we decided it would be best to party all weekend.
The party started at my mom's house on Saturday for our friend party. We quickly realized that the first birthday party is not for the child (he has no idea what is going on) but for all of our friends and family. We had a bounce house, grilled some hamburgers and hot dogs and had plenty of cake for the celebration.

Stephanie, Phil and William Warren bounce away in the bounce house. |
Henry would give his two hands up, seal of approval for his gifts.
The cake eating is always a big deal and he did really well. He got a little messy, but it wasn't anything out of the ordinary. His piece of cake was definitely too big, because I thought most of it was going to go on his body, I didn't make that mistake twice.

Love this picture, he's not too sure about that candle, or maybe it was everybody staring a singing. |

Kyle, Molli and William Slade came from Kansas City to help us celebrate!

I guess it's pretty obvious by now that I did an airplane theme. I made signs and my mom found the airplane balloons online.
My wonderful mother-in-law, Sally, made these cakes, five total! It took her all day Friday, but it was worth it, at least all of the guests thought it was worth it, I hope she did too.
Most of the pictures from Sunday's family get together are of Henry's Baptism (blog coming later). So, unfortunately I don't have a whole lot to share for the birthday part. We had a wonderful BBQ lunch at our house, dug into another cake and Henry was completely spoiled with all of his presents. Again, the two hand seal of approval.

He is climbing on the water table his Nana and Boompa got him. Even without the water he has still enjoyed playing with this one. |

He's playing with a gardening set his Great Aunt Janet got him. I'm so glad he likes to play in the dirt!

More cake and more smiles from this little one year old. It was truly a wonderful weekend. Throwing a weekend long celebration for surviving the first year of parenthood is definitely worth doing right!
